A successful solar project for your business

Key steps, from energy audit to return on investment.

A business solar installation is a long-term investment: panels keep producing for 25 years and more. To make it pay off, the project needs a method. Here is the approach our engineers follow, step by step.

1

The energy audit

Everything starts with your consumption. Gather 12 months of electricity bills: they show your consumption, your tariff, your contracted capacity and seasonal variations. If possible, add your load curve (hour-by-hour consumption), available from your utility for medium-voltage sites.

  • When do you use the most power? Daytime activity (offices, industry, refrigeration, pumping) benefits directly from solar.
  • Which equipment weighs most: air conditioning, motors, compressors, hot water?
  • Before producing, can you consume less? LED lighting, air-conditioning settings and operating hours are often quick wins.
2

Sizing and choosing equipment

The installation is sized to cover the share of your needs used during sunshine hours: this is self-consumption, the most profitable set-up. Our engineers then check the site:

  • Roof or landavailable area, orientation, shading, condition and strength of the structure.
  • Equipmentpanels, inverters and mounting structures from recognised brands, with written warranties.
  • Connectionswitchboard, protection and the site's voltage level.
  • Storagebatteries make sense if you use a lot of power in the evening or if outages disrupt your business.
3

The regulatory framework

In Morocco, self-generation is governed by Law 82-21. Depending on capacity and connection voltage, a project requires a declaration, a connection agreement or an authorisation. We identify the right procedure during the study and prepare the file with you. To learn more, read our article Law 82-21: what self-generation changes for businesses.

4

Financing and payback

Payback depends on your tariff, the share of energy you use on site, the sunshine in your city and the cost of the installation. For a first estimate, use our simulator; the technical study then gives you precise figures based on your bills.

  • Cash purchase, bank loan or leasing: compare the total cost, not just the monthly payment.
  • Look into the support and financing programmes available for your sector: we point you in the right direction and help you prepare the application.
  • Include maintenance in the calculation from the start.
5

Installation and commissioning

Once the study is approved, the work follows a precise schedule: equipment delivery, mounting structures and panels, cabling, grid connection, then testing and commissioning. Choose a certified installer, for example one holding AMEE's Taqa Pro label, and ask for a complete handover file: diagrams, data sheets, warranties and commissioning report.

6

Maintenance and monitoring

A well-monitored installation produces for longer. Plan remote monitoring to compare actual production with expected output, regular panel cleaning (dust reduces production) and a yearly check of inverters and protection devices.
